Central Illinois STEM Fair Volunteers

The Central Illinois STEM Fair planning committee is looking for parent volunteers to help with running this annual event.  No experience necessary!  The time required can be as little as one hour on the day of the event.  Jobs the day of the event include helping with ticket taking and registration at the door and helping with cleanup at the end of the day.   We also need a volunteer to help with planning the event.  The organizing committee meets once a week and handles a variety of logistics and publicity tasks that help to make this the biggest K-12 STEM event in Central Illinois.  This is a great way to learn about all the great STEM activities for students.  Please email rochesterstemfair@gmail.com if interested.

5Essentials Survey:

Your participation is important to us!

This survey was designed to generate a detailed picture of the inner workings of your child’s school. As a parent, this opportunity will allow you to share your thoughts on the important elements of RES 2-3 effectiveness.

Your identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.

Link for parents to take the survey: http://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/survey/parent/

New Information for DOUBLE BUS ROUTES

Now,  you can access the daily double bus route information on our school website under the  “live feed”section. Rochester website  Current double bus routes are communicated through our transportation department.

***PLEASE DIRECT ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING LATE BUSES TO THE BUS GARAGE. THEY CAN BE REACHED AT (217)498-9834.

Wheel chair accessible parking spots

Please do not block our designated wheel chair accessible parking areas. We have students at ES2/3 that need full access all hours of school operation.

EXTRA CLOTHES:

Please send in an EXTRA OUTFIT for your child to keep at school. There are many times a child could need a change of clothes. It could be for a bloody nose, milk spill, if they fall in a puddle, or have an accident. We have a very LIMITED supply of extra clothes at the school. Besides, kids are much more comfortable in one of their own outfits. We try to avoid having to call a parent for a change of clothes when something occurs. Please help us by sending them in. We appreciate your help with this matter.

TRANSPORTATION INFORMATION:

Transportation Changes:

Parents may make up two choices for bus transportation. Examples: home and daycare. You will be asked to specify your two choices at the beginning of the year. We would also appreciate no transportation changes the first two weeks of school, as we are trying to finalize bus assignments and routes. Any special plans for after school which require a change in transportation, should involve a parent pick-up at school or the regularly scheduled drop-off spot. Students will not be allowed to have non-school transportation drops, such as riding home with another student, scout settings, piano lessons, tutoring lessons, etc. Students will be placed on the bus if no note of call has been received by 2:00pm. Students will not be dropped off if the bus driver does not see any sign of someone being home.

Parents are encouraged to send a note with their child the morning of a transportation change. For emergency purposes, transportation requests may be phoned in up to 2:00 pm. Parents who abuse the transportation system will be contacted by the administration and a letter will be sent home.

If you plan on picking up your child early, please call in advance so we can notify the classroom teacher and get the student to the gym. The end of the day gets very hectic with over 250 children going in different directions. Any help with this matter is greatly appreciated. Our top priority is making sure every student makes it home safely. Thank you in advance.

Parents may request a transportation change by phone prior to 2:00 pm. Please call 498-9778 (RES EC-1) or 498-6216 (RES 2-3).

Please see the RES Handbook on page #34-35 for policy updates on transportation.

DOUBLE BUS ROUTES

Current regular double bus routes are to be communicated through the transportation department,, and on the Rochester website under “live feed.”
