GIRLS SECTIONAL BASKETBALL GAME
The Girls Basketball team plays Mahomet Seymour HS in the first round of Sectionals tonight, Tuesday, February 21 at 7:30 p.m. in the RAC. The admission price is $7.00 on the GoFan app, or $8.00 at the door. The link for tickets is 2/21 Sectional Tickets. Students are not free, as it is an IHSA postseason game. Please come out and cheer on the Rockets!

JOB OPPORTUNITIES
Knight’s Action Park is interviewing for jobs in all departments – Lifeguarding, Cashiers, Concessions, Maintenance and Ride Operators. Students (age 16 and above) can apply at the golf range from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 pm – 7 days a week.

BASEBALL PARENT MEETING
The Baseball Parent Meeting will be held virtually this Thursday, February 23 at 5:30 p.m. via Google Meet. Link - Link to Baseball Meeting
2023-2024 POMS TRYOUTS
Pack those dance bags! Auditions for both the Rochester High School and Rochester Junior High School Rocket Poms teams will be held next week! Tryouts for the 2023-2024 Rocket Poms will be held at the Rochester Elementary 2-3 Building on February 20-23. Current 6th through 11th graders are encouraged to audition. RJH applicants will attend clinics from 3:30-5:00 while RHS applicants will attend clinics from 4:00-5:30. All clinics will be closed to spectators. Tryouts will be judged on Thursday, February 23. Dancers should contact Coach Kramer at dkramer@rochester3a.net to discuss scheduling conflicts.
2023-2024 YEARBOOK STAFF APPLICATIONS
Applications for next year's yearbook staff are due by next Tuesday, February 28. Please check the high school announcements for the link to the form or see the email from your counselor. Students who have already applied or students who have questions please attend the information meeting on Thursday, February 23 at 7:45 a.m. in Ms. Starr's Room (3146). Please do not forget to have 3 teacher recommendations turned in by February 28.
CHEMISTRY CLUB MEETING
The next Chemistry Club meeting will be next Tuesday, February 28 at 3:15 in Mrs. Peters' Room, 3157. We will be tie-dying.
SPANISH CLUB SALSA NIGHT
The Spanish Club will hold their annual Salsa Night on Friday, March 3 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Only Rochester students are allowed to attend. Entry is free for Spanish Club members, and $5 for non Spanish club members. There will be a dance competition and a Salsa making competition, with a cash prize for first place in both competitions. If you are interested in joining the Salsa making competition, please fill out this form by NO LATER than March 2 at 3:05 p.m. If you have any questions, please see Srta Miller or Sra Veenstra.
ROCHESTER BAND FAMILIES PIZZA SALES
Forms will be coming home with your students for the Band Boosters principal fundraiser, the annual Antonio's pizza sale. 50% of all pizza sales revenue benefits the 5th through 12th grade Rochester School Band Program and will enable us to purchase new instruments for the Band Department. To reach our revenue goal, we need to sell 1500 pizzas! Customers are also allowed to donate money to the Band Boosters and a receipt will be provided for their donation. Sales take place from February 20 through March 3, with the pizza build and pick-up happening on March 11th. Forms due March 3rd to your band director! For questions, email LHicks101505@gmail.com.
SPANISH NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY
Have you completed Spanish 1 and 2 in High school, have 4 total semesters of A’s (excluding the current semester), AND have a GPA of 3.5? If so, then, fill out this form to join the Spanish National Honor Society by NO LATER THAN March 3 ,2023 at 3:05 p.m. Remember that attending the ceremony is compulsory. The ceremony will be on Monday, May 1 at 7:30 p.m.
RHS PTO INFORMATION
Happy 2023! The RHS PTO is wanting to let you know of an easy way to donate to our organization. You can make a donation at PayPal - (RHS PTO @rhsrocketspto) OR you can visit our Amazon Wish List at RHS PTO Wish List. If you order from Amazon, the items will be shipped directly to the school. The money collected helps buy supplies for the school and helps provide meals for Parent/Teacher conferences and treats during Teacher Appreciation Week. Any donation is greatly appreciated!

The Athletic Boosters are excited that we have so many postseason events for our boys and girls basketball teams to play at home, but we really need help in staffing the concessions. 5ESSENTIALS SURVEY FOR RHS
Parents, please take a few minutes to complete the 5Essentials Survey for RHS. This is a survey given by the Illinois State Board of Education. Please make sure that you are choosing the parent survey and not the student survey.
SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY
The John and Judy Scholarship for the Performing Arts is posted on www.cfll.org. The scholarship is for $1,000 and applications are due by March 1. Please see Mr. Bauser if you have any questions.
THE STEM FAIR IS BACK!
The Rochester Athletic Complex will be the site of the 2023 Central Illinois STEM Fair on Thursday March 30, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. The STEM Fair will feature science, technology, engineering, math clubs and activities from Rochester and throughout Central Illinois. This event is free and open to all K-12 students and their families from Rochester and other area schools. To reserve your free ticket for you and your family, go to Ticket Reservations and click on Reserve a spot. Teachers, if you would like to exhibit your STEM curriculum or after school activity, answer YES to the exhibitor question on the ticket reservation to claim your spot. RYAA is in need of volunteers to work the concession stand at the EC-1 gym for girls and boys K-2 basketball and at the 2-3 gym for 3rd-6th girls and boys basketball. DOCTORS NOTES
Please make sure that doctor’s notes are being brought to Mrs. Lessman in Student Services after the appointment. The note will change that absence in Skyward from a parent excuse - AE to a doctor excused absence - AD. Students are only allowed 6 AE absences in a school year. After 6 excused absences they will be counted as unexcused absences- UU. Please contact Mrs. Lessman in Student Services if you have questions.
PARKING
Please make sure you are parking in the correct parking spot. If you park in the wrong spot, it causes a chain reaction of students not being able to park in their assigned spot. Also, if you are driving to school, you must have a parking sticker posted in your vehicle. Please contact Mrs. Tucker in the Principal’s Office to purchase a sticker.

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENT
If your student plans to participate in one of our upcoming sports seasons, please visit RHS RSchool to register your athlete. We will also need an updated physical on file. Don’t forget to subscribe to “notify me” for your child’s sport, this allows you to get automatic notifications of any schedule changes. If you need to check your child’s physical date or have any questions about the registration process, please contact Kim Hauck at khauck@rochester3a.net.
