BOYS TENNIS SEASON IS HERE

Tennis season is here and the Rockets are ready to get started!  Anyone looking to play on the boys tennis team, please be at practice on Monday, March 6 @ 4:30 p.m. at the tennis courts. Please bring your tennis racquet, plenty of water and be ready to play. There will be a Mandatory Parents Meeting on Wednesday, March 15 @ 4:30 p.m. in the Commons Area. Also, all of last year's Varsity Players should report on Monday, February 27 @ 4:30 p.m. at the courts. Please be on time and ready to play!

GENERAL INFORMATION 

2023-2024 YEARBOOK STAFF APPLICATIONS

Applications for next year's yearbook staff are due by next Tuesday, February 28. Please check the high school announcements for the link to the form or see the email from your counselor. Please do not forget to have 3 teacher recommendations turned in by February 28.


CHEMISTRY CLUB MEETING

The next Chemistry Club meeting will be next Tuesday, February 28 at 3:15 in Mrs. Peters' Room, 3157. We will be tie-dying.


SPANISH CLUB SALSA NIGHT

The Spanish Club will hold their annual Salsa Night on Friday, March 3 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Only Rochester students are allowed to attend. Entry is free for Spanish Club members, and $5 for non Spanish club members. There will be a dance competition and a Salsa making competition, with a cash prize for first place in both competitions. If you are interested in joining the Salsa making competition, please fill out this form by NO LATER than March 2 at 3:05 p.m. If you have any questions, please see Srta Miller or Sra Veenstra.


ROCHESTER BAND FAMILIES PIZZA SALES

Forms will be coming home with your students for the Band Boosters principal fundraiser, the annual Antonio's pizza sale. 50% of all pizza sales revenue benefits the 5th through 12th grade Rochester School Band Program and will enable us to purchase  new instruments for the Band Department. To reach our revenue goal, we need to sell 1500 pizzas! Customers are also allowed to donate money to the Band Boosters and a receipt will be  provided for their donation. Sales take place from February 20 through March 3, with the pizza build and pick-up happening on March 11th.  Forms due March 3rd to your band director!  For questions, email LHicks101505@gmail.com.


SPANISH NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY

Have you completed Spanish 1 and 2 in High school, have 4 total semesters of A’s (excluding the current semester), AND have a GPA of 3.5? If so, then, fill out this form to join the Spanish National Honor Society by NO LATER THAN March 3 ,2023 at 3:05 p.m. Remember that attending the ceremony is compulsory. The ceremony will be on Monday, May 1 at 7:30 p.m.


JOSTENS GRADUATION CAP & GOWN PICK UP 

Jostens will be delivering caps and gowns and other graduation materials to students who ordered them on Tuesday, March 7 during Rocket Time, 9:30-10:15 a.m. in the HS Commons!  If you have any questions about pickup, please contact Mrs. Tucker at stucker@rochester3a.net.


SENIOR CLASS - ANNOUNCEMENTS

SENIORS - Reminder the LLCC Foundation Scholarship is open and is due March 1.  Check your school email for additional information.

JOB OPPORTUNITIES

Knight’s Action Park is interviewing for jobs in all departments – Lifeguarding, Cashiers, Concessions, Maintenance and Ride Operators. Students (age 16 and above) can apply at the golf range from 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 pm – 7 days a week.


RHS PTO INFORMATION

Happy 2023! The RHS PTO is wanting to let you know of an easy way to donate to our organization. You can make a donation at PayPal - (RHS PTO @rhsrocketspto) OR you can visit our Amazon Wish List at RHS PTO Wish ListIf you order from Amazon, the items will be shipped directly to the school. The money collected helps buy supplies for the school and helps provide meals for Parent/Teacher conferences and treats during Teacher Appreciation Week. Any donation is greatly appreciated! 


SCHOLARSHIP OPPORTUNITY

The John and Judy Scholarship for the Performing Arts is posted on www.cfll.org.  The scholarship is for $1,000 and applications are due by March 1.  Please see Mr. Bauser if you have any questions. 


THE STEM FAIR IS BACK!

The Rochester Athletic Complex will be the site of the 2023 Central Illinois STEM Fair on Thursday March 30, from 6:00-8:00 p.m.  The STEM Fair will feature science, technology, engineering, math clubs and activities from Rochester and throughout Central Illinois.  This event is free and open to all K-12 students and their families from Rochester and other area schools. To reserve your free ticket for you and your family, go to Ticket Reservations and click on Reserve a spot.  Teachers, if you would like to exhibit your STEM curriculum or after school activity, answer YES to the exhibitor question on the ticket reservation to claim your spot.  If you have questions, please contact Sheril Flynn or Stephanie Zeidler, or email rochesterstemfair@gmail.com.

The 2022-2023 RHS Rocket Yearbook is on sale, click Jostens RHS Yearbook Sales to order your yearbook TODAY! Just a reminder that we do not purchase an excess of extra yearbooks, so if you want a yearbook, please make sure to order it NOW


DOCTORS NOTES

Please make sure that doctor’s notes are being brought to Mrs. Lessman in Student Services after the appointment.  The note will change that absence in Skyward from a parent excuse - AE to a doctor excused absence - AD.  Students are only allowed 6 AE absences in a school year. After 6 excused absences they will be counted as unexcused absences- UU.  Please contact Mrs. Lessman in Student Services if you have questions.


PARKING

Please make sure you are parking in the correct parking spot.  If you park in the wrong spot, it causes a chain reaction of students not being able to park in their assigned spot.  Also, if you are driving to school, you must have a parking sticker posted in your vehicle.  Please contact Mrs. Tucker in the Principal’s Office to purchase a sticker.  


ATHLETICS & ACTIVITIES

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENT

If your student plans to participate in one of our upcoming sports seasons, please visit RHS RSchool to register your athlete.  We will also need an updated physical on file.  Don’t forget to subscribe to “notify me” for your child’s sport, this allows you to get automatic notifications of any schedule changes. If you need to check your child’s physical date or have any questions about the registration process, please contact Kim Hauck at khauck@rochester3a.net.
