NEW ANNOUNCEMENTS

SPANISH CLUB MEETING

There will be a Spanish Club Meeting next Thursday, May 9, from 3:15-4:15 p.m. in the HS Library.

RELEASE GROUP MEETING

There will be a RELEASE Meeting in the High School Library during Rocket Time on Thursday, May 9. The focus will be on Making a Calm Playlist and it will be carried out for 2 weeks. Everyone is free to come, there will be snacks.

GENERAL INFORMATION

RHS CHEERLEADING TRYOUTS

The 24-25 Rochester High School Cheerleading Tryouts will be held on May 7, 8 and 10. Anyone interested in going out for the team should join the BAND app tryout group and file out the survey before Friday, May 3. Contact Coach Shaina with any questions at sford@rochester3a.net. PROM 2024

The RHS Prom “A Night Under the Sun” will be held on Saturday, May 4 from 8:00-11:00 p.m. at the Artisans Building on the Illinois State Fairgrounds. Tickets are $30.00 each and will be sold until Thursday, May 2 at 12:00 p.m. (NOON). You can purchase your tickets at the 2024 Prom Ticket Link or scan the QR code on the prom posters around the school. If you have any questions regarding Prom please reach out to Mrs. Gunter or Ms. Seitz. 

AFTER PROM INFORMATION

After Prom is FREE for all Rochester Junior and Seniors, regardless of whether or not they attend the Prom.  Admission for students who are not an RHS Junior or Senior is $5.00.  This year’s After Prom will be held in the Cafeteria and JH/HS school gym on Saturday, May 4 following the Prom. After prom will be from 11:30 p.m.-1:30 a.m. Students must be checked in by 12:30 a.m. to attend. Registration and sign-in will be from 11:30 p.m. – 12:30 a.m.  Parking will be located in the front of the JH/HS. Entry will be limited to the Cafeteria entrance only.  Students are encouraged to arrive early as there will be no entry after 12:30 a.m.  After Prom will end at 1:30 a.m., however, students are allowed to leave at any time during the night.  If a student chooses to leave they will not be allowed to re-enter the building. Students should change prior to arriving.  No bags or purses of any kind will be allowed in the building.  No food or drink will be allowed to be carried in the building by students.  


This year’s After Prom party will include ping pong, volleyball, corn hole, photo setup, music, coffee bar, food, and much more! We will have Chromecast TVs set up if you want to bring your own video game systems.  All students will be eligible to receive prizes throughout the night.  There will also be a raffle which will include big-ticket items, such as airpods, mini-fridges, flat-screen televisions, and many more prizes!

GRADUATION WALK

All RHS Seniors will visit the Elementary campus, RIS campus and JH/HS campus for a Graduation Walk on Tuesday, May 7 from 9:30-10:45 a.m.  Seniors should bring their cap and gown to wear during their visits to the other campuses. You must have your cap and gown to participate. This event is for SENIORS ONLY!  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Tucker in the Principal’s Office.

SUMMER VOLLEYBALL ANNOUNCEMENT

Students interested in Summer Volleyball:  There will be an informational meeting for parents and players on Wednesday, May 8 at 4:45 p.m. in the HS Commons to go over summer volleyball details. 

MADRIGALS AUDITIONS

Auditions for the 2024-25 Rochester High School Madrigals will be May 13-15 after school in the Choir Room. Any student entering grades 9-12 is welcome to audition regardless of singing experience. 30TH ANNUAL ROCKET FOOTBALL GOLF OUTING - MAY 31

We will be hosting the 30th annual Rocket Football Golf Outing at Lincoln Greens Golf Course on Friday, May 31! For more information on golfing, sponsorships and silent auction during this event, please visit rocketgolfouting.com or email us at rhsrocketfootball@gmail.com.

SENIOR CLASS PHOTOS NEEDED

We are asking that each senior provide one baby or toddler age (1-3 years old) picture and one senior picture ASAP for the video. Photos can be digital or hard copy. Please see the attached letter for additional information - Senior Photo Request Letter

SPORTS PHYSICAL INFORMATION

Sports physicals for Rochester High School athletes will be held on Tuesday, May 14 starting at 4:00 p.m. in the RAC.  These physicals are for current freshman, sophomore and junior athletes.  There is no charge for the physicals, which are conducted by local physicians/parents from the Rochester community and Springfield Clinic Sports Medicine. Each student athlete is required to have a physical on file before beginning practice.  These physicals are good for 13 months. Each athlete must have a filled out and SIGNED IHSA history and physical form before they can receive their physical.  Medical Eligibility Form  Volunteer nurses are needed to help with blood pressure checks, height and weight and other pre-physical activities.  If you can volunteer to help, or have questions,  please contact Jessica Nika at jnika@springfieldclinic.com. RHS PTO INFORMATION

The HS PTO needs your help!  The PTO is seeking donations to help provide lunch from Cafe Moxo for our staff during Teacher Appreciation Week in May. You can make a donation at PayPal - (RHS PTO @rhsrocketspto) or you can mail in a donation to - Rochester HS PTO - Attn: Heather Cook, 1 Rocket Drive, Rochester, IL 62563. The money collected helps provide lunch and treats during Teacher Appreciation Week. Any donation is greatly appreciated!

SPRING CONCESSION VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

BASKETBALL OPEN GYMS

Basketball open gyms will be every Wednesday and will run through October.  The open gyms will be held in the RAC from 6:00-7:00 p.m. for anyone in 3rd through 8th grade and 7:00- 8:30 p.m. for high school students and up. 


SUMMER SPORT CAMP REGISTRATION INFO

Summer Camps are open for registration.  Payment is cash/check before the first day of camp. Summer Sports Camp Brochure  Links for registration are below:

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENT

If your student plans to participate in one of our upcoming sports seasons, please visit Athletic Registration to register your athlete.  Please go under the 'more' tab and choose athletic registration.  We will also need an updated physical on file.  Don’t forget to subscribe to “notify me” for your child’s sport, this allows you to get automatic notifications of any schedule changes. If you need to check your child’s physical date or have any questions about the registration process, please contact Kim Hauck at khauck@rochester3a.net.

ALL attendance information (absences, doctors notes, vacation, pre-arranged absences, college visits, etc.) should be sent to Mrs. Basan-Welch in Student Services by email  vbasanwelch@rochester3a.net or by phone 217-498-9761, Ext. 53105. 


PARKING

If you plan on driving a vehicle to school this year, you must fill out the parking survey and pay the parking fee.  If you have not already completed the survey, please do so ASAP, Rochester HS Parking Survey. Please make sure you are parking in the correct parking spot.  Also, all students that park in the back lot will be required to enter through the MPR doors.  Students should not be entering any of the other doors on the back side of the HS.  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Tucker in the Principal’s Office.
