DOUBLE BUS ROUTES, 10-29-24

Bus Route F is a double route tonight, please wait in the HS cafeteria after school until your shuttle bus arrives to pick you up and take you home. Please direct any questions regarding late buses to the Bus Garage at (217)498-9834.

HS WRESTLING PRE-SEASON PARENT MEETING

The High School Wrestling team will have their Pre-Season Parent Meeting TONIGHT, Tuesday, October 29 at 5:30 p.m. in the High School Library.  Boys and Girls Wrestlers are welcome to attend!

MOCK ELECTION INFORMATION

The RHS AP Government and Politics classes have created and are running a Mock Election for ALL STUDENTS AND STAFF to vote in, TODAY Tuesday, October 29. Please plan to take a few minutes during your Rocket Time or Lunch to cast your vote and participate in the Mock Election. Voting will be available during both lunches. If you do not have lunch, students will be able to vote during Rocket Time TODAY, Tuesday, October 29 in the Cafeteria. The intention of the Mock Election is to educate citizens on the importance of voting and how to vote in the future.

FOOTBALL CONCESSION HELP NEEDED

We need your help with concessions for the Football Playoff game this Friday, November 1.  It’s a great opportunity to get your volunteer hours!  Student Concessions

CANDY GRAMS 

Release will be selling Candy Grams through TODAY, Tuesday, October 29 to raise money for the support group. For $1.00 you can send a Halloween greeting to a friend or staff member!  You can even buy some for your family!  Candy Grams will be sold in the cafeteria each morning before school, during Rocket Time, and during lunches.  You can also reach out to Liv Sheehan to purchase. Payment is due at the time of order. Candy Grams will be delivered to students on Halloween (Thursday, October 31) during Rocket Time.  

ENVIRONMENTAL WELLNESS CLUB APPAREL

HALLOWEEN DRESS UP INFO

Rochester High School Students and Staff may participate in dressing up for Halloween this Thursday, October 31 if they wear something ONLY from the following categories: Favorite Jersey, Favorite Hat, Favorite Candy, Favorite Color or Favorite Career. Items listed above will follow the dress code guidelines of the Rochester High School Handbook 24-25.

AUDIO-ESSAY CONTEST

VFW Voice of Democracy Audio-Essay contest entries must be submitted to Mr. Fitzgerald by the end of the day this Thursday, October 31.  This includes the entry form signed by a parent/guardian. Entry forms can still be picked up in Mr. Fitzgerald's Room (1135). 

INFORMATION FOR RHS VARSITY FOOTBALL VS. PEORIA NOTRE DAME - 11.1.24

Congratulations to our Rocket Football Team for making the playoffs.  We will be hosting the 1st round vs Peoria Notre Dame this Friday, November 1 at 7:00 p.m.  ALL tickets are $6.00 and STUDENTS WILL HAVE TO PAY for playoff games.  Tickets are available at the gate.  Cash only.

PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES

Parent/Teacher Conferences for Rochester High School families will be held on Monday, November 4 from 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. Conferences will be held VIRTUALLY this fall. Parents should use their Skyward Family Access to schedule 15-minute virtual appointments with their student’s teachers that they would like to visit with through our video conferencing platform.  After scheduling your conference(s), parents will be sent a link by the teacher for each meeting via their email. BOYS BASKETBALL PARENT MEETING

There will be a Mandatory Boys Basketball Parent Meeting on Wednesday, November 6 at 7:00 p.m. in the RAC.  

BUILDING TRADES CAREER DAY FOR JUNIORS & SENIORS

Juniors and Seniors interested in going into a trade are encouraged to attend the Building Trades Career Day on Tuesday, November 19. Students will be gone from school from 8:45-10:30 a.m. Permission slips can be picked up from Mrs. Schudel in Student Services and must be returned to Student Services by Friday, November 8. The permission slip includes a full list of trades that will be present at the event. 

VETERAN’S DAY ASSEMBLY

Rochester High School and Junior High School will be hosting a Veteran's Day Assembly on Monday, November 11 in the RAC. Students are welcome and encouraged to invite any family members who are Veterans.  Veterans can start arriving at 1:45 p.m. to check in at the RAC and enjoy refreshments.  The assembly will begin at 2:30 p.m. and will be held in the RAC. If students plan on having Veterans attend, they should complete the form that was emailed to students by Mrs. Tucker.  If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Tucker at stucker@rochester3a.net.


RHS PTO INFORMATION

The HS PTO needs your help!  The PTO is seeking donations to help provide food for our teachers during Parent Teacher Conferences this fall and provide additional supplies that the HS teachers need in their classrooms. You can make a donation at PayPal - (RHS PTO @rhsrocketspto) or you can mail in a donation to - Rochester HS PTO - Attn: Kendra Jones, 1 Rocket Drive, Rochester, IL 62563 OR you can visit our Amazon Wish List at RHS PTO Wish List. Any donation is greatly appreciated! 

LLCC OPPORTUNITIES

There are several opportunities to visit campus:

  • Students interested in Ag programs can attend a presentation and tour starting at 3:00 p.m.  The next presentation is October 30.

  • The Open House for spring will be March 3, 2025.

Registration is encouraged for all these events.  Students/parents can sign up by visiting https://www.llcc.edu/visit-llcc and completing the “TOUR AND INFO SESSION REGISTRATION” form on the bottom of the page. 

VOTER REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Attention Everyone who will be 18 on or before November 5! It's time to register to vote or check your registration status.  There are lots of links on the document and Ms. Bilyeu is happy to help you with any part of it.   If you want to register online, you only have a few days left (closes October 20).  Link to Info on Voter Registration

Need help with homework or studying? NHS Study Tables are here to help! Peer tutoring is available during Rocket Time in the library every Tuesday. Stop by for extra support in any subject, and let our NHS members help you succeed!

HS/JH Picture Re-Takes will be Monday, November 25, 2024.  If you decide to have your picture retaken, you must turn in your original picture order at that time.

ATHLETIC SPORTS PASSES

The 2024-25 Athletic Sports Passes will be available again this year!  You can get yours at any home game.  Cash or check made payable to “RHS”.  The passes are good for RHS and RJHS home events. (Tournaments and Post Season games are not included)  The cost is $200 for a Family Pass (for immediate family only) or $100 for an Individual Pass.

2024-2025 YEARBOOKS ON SALE NOW

The 2024-2025 RHS Rocket Yearbook is on sale now for $70.00. ALL sales for books will be online this year. Click LINK to purchase the RHS 2024-2025 Yearbook to order your yearbook TODAY! Just a reminder that we do not purchase an excess of extra yearbooks, so if you want a yearbook, please make sure to order it NOW!

Students must complete the Parking Survey prior to receiving their parking tag.


COLLEGE ESSAY ASSISTANCE

Seniors: it is that time already! College essays! If you would like help writing or editing your essay, Dr. Johnson would love to help you. College essay workshops will be every Monday and Wednesday during Rocket Time in the back of the Junior High Library (Dr. Johnson's new office space). Please send Dr. Johnson an email at tjohnson@rochester3a.net, and she will issue you a pass. There is no need to do this alone; use your resources!

ATHLETICS & ACTIVITIES

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENT

If your student plans to participate in sports this school year '24-'25.  Registration is open.  At that time, please visit Athletic Registration to register your athlete.  Please go under the 'more' tab and choose athletic registration.  We will also need an updated physical on file.  Don’t forget to subscribe to “notify me” for your child’s sport, this allows you to get automatic notifications of any schedule changes. If you need to check your child’s physical date or have any questions about the registration process, please contact Kim Hauck at khauck@rochester3a.net.
