NEW TODAY AT RHS

DOUBLE BUS ROUTES, 10-31-22

RHS riders on Busses #7 and #19 please wait in the HS cafeteria after school until your shuttle bus arrives to pick you up and take you home. PLEASE DIRECT ANY QUESTIONS REGARDING LATE BUSES TO THE BUS GARAGE. THEY CAN BE REACHED AT (217) 498-9834.

 

PASTRY SALES KICK-OFF

The Pastry Sales Kick-Off for High School Band and both Choirs will be held TODAY,  Monday, October 31 in the Auditorium during Rocket Time. 

 

SECTIONAL VOLLEYBALL GAME

The Rochester vs. Normal West Sectional Volleyball Game will be played MONDAY, October 31 at 7:00 p.m. in Lincoln. Admissions: Admission is $6.00 and is set by the IHSA. Digital tickets are only available online through GoFan. The link to the tickets can be found here - Go Fan LINK. A baby held in arms will be admitted free. No passes will be accepted except for those on the school-submitted team pass list.

 

SPANISH CLUB MEMBERS

Spanish Club Members: If you want to attend the Day of the Dead event this week, please fill out the form on Canvas by the end of school TODAY, October 31.

 

RHS WRESTLING INFORMATION

Rochester High School Wrestling Open Mats/Gym this week will be Monday, October 31, Wednesday, November 2 and Friday, November 4 from 4:00-6:00 p.m. in the RAC wrestling room.

 

CROSS COUNTRY TEAM RESULTS

This weekend the Girls Cross Country Team and Jack Arends from the Boys Team competed in the Chatham Sectional. The girls team finished 3rd only 5 points out of first place and qualified for next weekend’s state meet in Peoria.  Leading the way for the Rockets was senior Colleen Zeibert who finished 6th.  Ashley Zeibert finished 10th and in medal position as well.  Other varsity runners included Natalie Nichols, Brooke Zeibert, Ella Kieffer, Myra Gibson, and Addi Schmedeke.  Jack Arends finished 82nd on a strong time of 16:58 but failed to qualify for state.  Congratulations to all those who ran!

 

2ND ROUND FOOTBALL PLAYOFF GAME 

Rochester will play Breese Central on Saturday, November 5 at 4:30 p.m. Admissions: Admission is set by the IHSA. Digital tickets are $6.00. Cash tickets at the door are $7.00. PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES - 11/2/22

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held again for RHS this Wednesday, November 2 from 3:30 - 8:30 p.m. Conferences will be held VIRTUALLY this fall. Parents should use their Skyward Family Access to schedule 15-minute virtual appointments with their student’s teachers that they would like to visit with through our video conferencing platform.  After scheduling your conference(s), parents will be sent a link by the teacher for each meeting via their email. ROCKET RALLY

TODAY IS THE LAST DAY!  Please remember to bring in your spare change and drop it in the buckets in front of the Principal’s Office. We will donate this rallys total to a breast cancer charity.  Whichever grade comes up with the most money WINS!

 

SOPHOMORES - CLASS RING ORDER INFO

If you did not turn in your class ring order today, you can drop it off to Mrs. Tucker in the Principal’s Office ASAP. Class Ring Information Video.  Jostens is also taking orders for Letterman’s Jackets, please see the flyer for additional information. You can contact Jostens at 217-483-8989 with any questions you may have after reviewing the packet information.

 

ESSAY CONTEST

The Rochester VFW post is sponsoring the Voice of Democracy Audio Essay Contest.  There are scholarship prizes available at the post, district, state and national level.  Please see Mr. Fitzgerald for entry information, with audio essays due on October 31.  

 

JUNIORS & SENIORS - CAREER DAY

Please check your email for information about the upcoming Building Trades Career Day on November 15.  Permission forms are available in Student Services from Mrs. Schudel.  Forms are due back on November 3.  Space is limited.

BOYS BASKETBALL ANNOUNCEMENT 

There will be a Parent/Coaches Meeting for anyone interested in playing basketball this year on Wednesday, November 2 in the RAC at 6:30 p.m.  Both players and parents are asked to attend.  If you have any questions, please reach out to Coach Gavin at tgavin@inb.com.

DOCTORS NOTES

Please make sure that doctor’s notes are being brought to Mrs. Lessman in Student Services after the appointment.  The note will change that absence in Skyward from a parent excuse - AE to a doctor excused absence - AD.  Students are only allowed 6 AE absences in a school year. After 6 excused absences they will be counted as unexcused absences- UU.  Please contact Mrs. Lessman in Student Services if you have questions.

 

PARKING

Please make sure you are parking in the correct parking spot.  If you park in the wrong spot, it causes a chain reaction of students not being able to park in their assigned spot.  Also, if you are driving to school, you must have a parking sticker posted in your vehicle.  Please contact Mrs. Tucker in the Principal’s Office to purchase a sticker.

HS GIRLS TRACK INFORMATION

HS Girls' Track will hold Open Gyms two days a week, starting October 25.   If you are in another sport at this time, please know you can join us once your season is over.  If you have any questions, please contact Coach Trexler.

 

SPORTS ANNOUNCEMENT

If your student plans to participate in one of our upcoming sports seasons, please visit RHS RSchool to register your athlete.  We will also need an updated physical on file.  Don’t forget to subscribe to “notify me” for your child’s sport, this allows you to get automatic notifications of any schedule changes. If you need to check your child’s physical date or have any questions about the registration process, please contact Kim Hauck at khauck@rochester3a.net.
