If you need a loaner chromebook, please visit the Tech Office before 8:30am.
It is important to remember your chromebook daily and to bring it charged and ready for class. Please carry your chargers in your case so if your battery gets low at the end of the day you can charge it. We are seeing more students for loaners everyday and only have a limited number of chromebooks.
Bus Announcements
Bus #3 is a double route today.
**Students who ride the bus need to make sure to have all of their belongings before leaving the building and getting on the bus. You will not be allowed to re-enter the building.**
Sixth Grade Vocal Solo/Ensemble participants:
We will have extra vocal coaching sessions from 3:15-5:00 PM every day until our contest - ( Saturday February 25th). These sessions are optional, but highly encouraged!

All Fourth Grade students will be presenting a music, drama and dance performance of "Gold Rush" the Story of the pioneers who headed to the California Goldfield in 1849-1852. Student Auditions will be held during music class this week (February 20-24, 2023). Auditions are optional (students do NOT have to audition for the speaking/acting or dancing parts).
Students will learn a basic dance combination the following week and we'll audition kids the following week (March 4-8)!
The Big Show will be performed live on March 16th at
2:00 P.M. in the RIS Gymnasium!

2023-2024 Poms Tryouts
Pack those dance bags! Auditions for both the Rochester High School and Rochester Junior High School Rocket Poms teams will be held this week! Tryouts for the 2023-2024 Rocket Poms will be held at the Rochester Elementary 2-3 building February 20th - 23rd. Current 6th through 11th graders are encouraged to audition. RJH applicants will attend clinics from 3:30-5:00 while RHS applicants will attend clinics from 4:00-5:30. All clinics will be closed to spectators. Tryouts will be judged on Thursday, February 23rd. More specific details will be discussed with team candidates on Monday, February 20th. Dancers should contact Coach Kramer at dkramer@rochester3a.net to discuss scheduling conflicts.
PTO
The RIS PTO will hold its next monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 14 at 7 p.m. via Zoom. We will be planning the Spring Carnival at this meeting. All are welcome to attend. A full list of upcoming meetings can be found here.

Rochester School Band Families
Forms will be coming home with your students for the Band Boosters principal fundraiser, the annual Antonio's pizza sale. 50% of all pizza sales revenue benefits the 5th through 12th grade Rochester School Band Program and will enable us to purchase new instruments for the Band Department. To reach our revenue goal, we need to sell 1500 pizzas! Customers are also allowed to donate money to the Band Boosters and a receipt will be provided for their donation. Sales take place from February 20th through March 3rd, with the pizza build and pick-up happening on March 11th. Forms due March 3rd to your band director! Transportation Changes
All transportation changes must be submitted to the office no later than 2:00pm. Please call the office at 217-498-6215 or email your changes to Mrs. Howie at chowie@rochester3a.net or Mrs. Lovett at clovett@rochester3a.net. Any request for transportation changes past 2:00 pm cannot be accepted. Thank you for your cooperation!
Parent Pick-up:
As a reminder, for parent pick-up at the end of the day, all parents should remain in their vehicles and follow the pick-up line around and to the front of the building. Please do not park in the parking spaces in order to pick up your child. Thank you for your help with this!
Lunch Balances
The low lunch balance alerts have been reactivated for all families. You will get an alert when your lunch balance is below $5.00. If you choose to shut off the alert, you will no longer get any school announcements.
